Judgment

Standstill: it is not the time for righteous people to advance. The great departs, the small arrives.

In Practice

Standstill is the mirror of Peace: heaven above, earth below, and the two no longer meet. Communication has broken down, things are blocked, and effort seems to go nowhere. It is the hexagram of the stalled season, the dead end, the environment that will not receive you. Its counsel is not to fight the blockage but to withdraw into what is solid in yourself, keep your integrity, and wait. Standstill does not last forever; it is a season that passes, and the wise endure it without becoming part of it.

In love

The connection has gone cold or distant, and forcing a conversation will not open it now. Withdraw gracefully, stop pushing, and give the situation room to breathe. Some distance, held without bitterness, is what allows a later thaw.

In career

The environment is blocked — no openings, little appreciation, progress stalled. Do not exhaust yourself hammering at a locked door. Keep your standards, do honest work quietly, and watch for the shift. Enduring with integrity matters more than forcing a result.

In money

A stagnant or declining phase: hold what you have, avoid new commitments, and do not chase returns that are not there. Preservation, not growth, is the goal while the season is closed.

Guidance

Accept the standstill for what it is — a season, not a verdict. Withdraw, protect your integrity, and wait. The blockage will pass, and you want to still be standing when it does.

Watch out

Two errors: battering yourself against the blockage, or sinking into it and abandoning your standards. Endure without either forcing or surrendering.
