In Practice

Approach shows the earth rising toward the lake, or a leader drawing near to the people. It is the hexagram of advance, of moving toward a goal, a person, or a responsibility while conditions are favorable. The image is of the growing approach of spring: the time is coming, but it is not yet fully here, and the wise prepare for it. The teaching is to advance with confidence but without arrogance — the approach succeeds when it is steady, benevolent, and aware that the favorable season will not last forever.

In love

The relationship is moving forward, and the moment favors progress. Advance with warmth and intention, but do not rush or presume. Approach the other person's heart the way spring approaches — gradually, and welcomed.

In career

A window of opportunity is opening. Step forward, take the responsibility, make the approach — but do so steadily and with good faith toward others. The season favors you now; use it while it lasts, and do not overplay your hand.

In money

Conditions are favorable for measured advance. Increase your position or make the move you have been considering, but keep a reserve. The favorable season is real, and it is also finite.

Guidance

Move toward your goal while the season favors you, with confidence and goodwill. Advance steadily, prepare for the future, and remember that the favorable time will not last indefinitely.

Overconfidence turns a favorable approach into an overreach. Advance, but keep your humility and your reserves — the season that favors you now will eventually turn.
