In Practice
Return shows thunder within the earth: the first stirring of life at the winter solstice, when the light begins its slow return. It is the hexagram of the turning point, the renewal, the return of what had been lost or left behind. The image is the one yang line returning at the base, the seed of new growth. The teaching is that return is natural and cyclical — decline reaches its limit and begins to reverse. The wise recognize the turning early and align with it, returning to the right path while the return is still small.
In love
After a period of distance or difficulty, there is a chance to return — to the relationship, to the conversation, to what was good between you. The turning is still small; nurture it gently. Early recognition of the return is what lets it grow.
In career
A setback is beginning to reverse, or a path you left is calling you back. The renewal is small and fragile — support it, correct your course early, and do not wait for the change to be obvious before you align with it.
In money
The decline is bottoming, and a slow recovery is beginning. This is a time to cautiously return to sound positions, not to chase a rebound. Align with the turning while it is still small and unspectacular.
Guidance
Recognize the turning point while it is still small, and align yourself with it. Return to the right path, correct your course early, and let the renewal grow. What was lost can come back.
Watch out
Miss the small turning and you may miss the season. But do not mistake a temporary bounce for the true return — align with the direction, not the noise.
