Judgment

Union brings good fortune. Examine the oracle, and if you are steadfast and enduring, there will be no blame. Those who are restless will come; but those who come too late will meet with misfortune.

In Practice

Holding Together shows water resting on the earth, drawn together into one body. It is the hexagram of union, alliance, and belonging. The question it asks is not whether you will attach yourself to something, but to what, and how sincerely. The judgment urges you to choose early and wholeheartedly; those who delay find themselves with no place. But the union it blesses is one built on integrity, not on convenience or fear. The teaching is that belonging requires both a good choice and a full commitment.

In love

This hexagram asks for a clear, wholehearted commitment rather than half-in, half-out. If you have chosen this person, choose them fully; if you are still deciding, decide. The danger is the lingering that leaves both people unclaimed.

In career

Choose your team, company, or community and commit to it sincerely. Half-hearted belonging produces half-hearted results. But choose on the basis of integrity and shared values, not merely safety or salary.

In money

Ally with reliable partners and institutions you can trust, and keep the alliance honest. A partnership built on transparency compounds; one built on convenience quietly unravels.

Guidance

Decide whom or what you will bind yourself to, and do it early and sincerely. Full commitment, grounded in integrity, is what turns an alliance into a source of strength.

Watch out

Hesitation leaves you without a place, and attaching to the wrong ally for the wrong reasons is worse than standing alone for a while.
